Exposition
The Museum's exposition is open to the public with museum entrance tickets.
The Obraztsov Theater Museum is a unique collection of exhibits reflecting the history of the world puppet theater. This collection is rightfully considered to be one of the largest in the world. The museum's collections include about 6,000 theatrical puppets of various sizes and control systems, brought from more than 50 countries around the world. Some of our puppets are hundreds of years old. Others are younger than five years of age. However, not only do we keep puppets here, but also we have the most valuable archival documents, including personal collections of prominent figures, experts and researchers of domestic and foreign puppet theater, posters, performance programs, sketches, props, elements of scenery, theatrical costumes, negatives, photographs, slides, films, audio recordings. There are more than 150,000 items in total.
Our goal is to preserve and to increase the collection of objects that reflect the existence and development of the art of puppetry. At the same time, we pay special attention to the legacy of Sergei Obraztsov and his creation - the State Academic Central Puppet Theatre.
Our mission is to introduce everyone to this amazing art form and help them fall in love with it.
In 2020, the Obraztsov Theater Museum was registered in the Register of Museums of the State Catalog of the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation and from now on the museum is rightfully considered to be a theater museum of the federal level.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the Obraztsova Theatre Museum. Here puppets and people meet each other.
