PREMIERS IN DECEMBER!
Every child in Russia knows the tale of Tsar Saltan, his son Gvidon and the fair Swan-maiden. What is it about? Foremost it is about the consequences of envy, how each of your evil-doings will haunt you in return. In addition, it is about how love, when shared, will multiply in threes.
The creators of the show do not go the illustrative route; they do it the playful way, as suggested by the author - Alexander Pushkin – himself, whilst preserving the treasure that is this writer’s witty text.
It is quite a metaphorical performance, filled with symbolism so that each audience member will have to go on a journey in order to decipher the hidden meanings of the play.
“When destiny gives you the opportunity to work with an author like that – it’s always a blessing. The main goal is not to do a formal illustration, but try to find out what hides between the lines. Then it becomes interesting for children as well as adults”, – Director Boris Konstantinov.
“The whole play is filled with impressions and symbols. They will morph and change giving the audience the feeling of witnessing a real olden theatre”, - stage and puppetry designer Viktor Nikonenko.
