Tale of the pope and of his workman Balda

Tale of the pope and of his workman Balda

Evgeny Speransky
In "Tale of the pope and of his workman Balda," for the first time, if I am not mistaken, the theater of masks was used in such close contact with puppets. It was also new that the performance was like a story, without a reader; not only was not a single word of Pushkin broken, but it seems that even all the punctuation marks were preserved.

Pop, Popadya, Popovna - these were masked actors. Balda was an actor without a mask.
